Recent industry reporting suggests the UK care sector is facing increasing pressure on capacity.
Care Home Professional recently highlighted the condition of existing care home stock, noting that “care home bed supply across the UK is in urgent need of upgrading.” At the same time, analysis reported by Caring Times suggests the elderly care market could reach capacity within the next decade if supply does not keep pace with demand.
While much of the discussion focuses on new developments, these reports also highlight an important reality: many of the bedrooms needed to support future demand already exist within current care homes.
