Chairs Fit for a King...

When King Charles III visited Hallmark Lakeview Luxury Care Home in Surrey last week, the nation’s attention was drawn to a remarkable meeting. His Majesty spent time with Ethel Caterham, who at 116 is officially the world’s oldest living person.

As cameras captured the moment, the pair sat side by side, sharing memories that spanned decades - including Ethel’s recollection of the King’s investiture as Prince of Wales more than 50 years ago.

But while the headlines quite rightly focused on this extraordinary exchange, there’s one detail we couldn’t help but notice… Both King Charles and Ethel Caterham were sitting in our Cranborne chairs.

Designed with both comfort and practicality in mind, the Cranborne has long been a favourite in care home settings. Its supportive frame, tailored upholstery, and timeless style make it as much at home in a royal visit as it is in care home bedrooms & lounges across the UK.

We’ve always believed furniture should enhance moments that matter - whether that’s quiet time with family, daily comfort for residents, or (on rare occasions) a historic meeting between a King and the world’s oldest person.
